INSA-JRD TATA Fellowship 2017-18

Indian National Science Academy circulated an announcement for INSA-JRD TATA Fellowship 2017-18 on its official portal. Candidates who want to apply this scholarship scheme should complete the online application through the official link. INSA aims to distinguish young scientists of extraordinary promise and creativity who have made notable research contributions in Science and Technology.

The Indian National Science Academy was established in January 1935 with the object of promoting science in India and harnessing scientific knowledge for the cause of humanity and national welfare. The foundation of the Academy, earlier known as the National Institute of Sciences of India (NISI), was the outcome of joint endeavors of several organizations and individuals and the Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) playing a leading role in this regard.

The Fellowship is intended for researchers (Nationals) from developing countries except for India, who have an aptitude for research and would be desirous of working in an Indian research laboratory for a maximum period of 3 months. Applicants possessing Doctorate or Master´s Degree in Science or equivalent degree in Engineering/Medicine and allied disciplines, below 45 years of age may apply for this fellowship.

Eligibility Criteria for INSA-JRD TATA Fellowship 2017-18

·     The award of an Academy medal to a Young Scientist shall be made in recognition of notable contributions to any branch of science or technology, recognized by the Academy, on the basis of work carried out in India. Any citizen of India, who has not attained the age of 35 years on December 31, of the year preceding the year of the award, shall be eligible for the award.

·      Scientific societies of national standing, university faculties, post­graduate departments or research institutions may also make nominations of eligible candidates. A nomination will remain valid for consideration for 3 years or the eligibility age whichever expires earlier.
