NEAT stands for the National Engineering Aptitude Test which is being conducted by Lovely Professional University, Punjab. The main motive behind this entrance exam is to shortlist students who wish to get admission in Under Graduate Engineering courses. Students must download NEAT Syllabus 2017 to prepare this exam completely. Chemistry Syllabus:

Unit I: Some Concepts of Chemistry 
It’s General Introduction: The Importance and scope of chemistry and Nature of matter, the laws of chemical combination and Dalton’s atomic theory concepts, atoms, and its molecules. Atomic and molecular masses of elements, mole concept and molar mass of a substance, percentage composition and empirical and molecular formula and chemical reactions, it's psychometric and non-occupational based on psychometric.

Unit II: Structure of Atom and Properties
Discovery of the  Electron, Proton, and Neutron and atomic number, its isotopes and isobars. Thomson’s model it's limitations. Rutherford’s model  its limitations, Bohr’s model and the limitations, concept of shells and subshells of substance, dual nature of matter and light and there, de Broglie’s relationship and  Heisenberg principle, concept of orbitals, the  quantum numbers, shapes of s, p and d orbitals and  rules for filling electrons in  the orbitals- Aufbau principle, Pauli’s exclusion principle and the Hund’s rule, electronic configuration of atoms and stability of half filled and completely filled orbitals .

Unit III: Periodicity in Properties of Elements and there Classification
The Significance of classification and the brief history of the development  periodic table, modern periodic Table  and the present form of periodic table and  trends in properties of elements and atomic radii, ionic radii of inert gas radio Ionization enthalpy and the  electron gain enthalpy, electronegativity, and valence. Nomenclature of elements along with its atomic number greater than 100.

Unit IV:  Molecular structure and Chemical bonding
The Valence electrons and  ionic bond, the  covalent bond and  bond parameters, Lewis structure and the  polar character of covalent bonds, The  covalent character of ionic bond and  valence bond theory and the resonance, geometry of covalent molecules, The VSEPR theory and  concept of hybridization and the involving of sap and d orbitals and shapes of some of the  simple molecules, its molecular orbital theory of homonuclear and diatomic molecules(qualitative analysis ) and the  hydrogen bonding.

Unit V: The Various States of Matter: Gases and Liquids
The Three states of matter and  intermolecular interactions, the  types of bonding, its  melting and boiling points and the  role of gas laws in elucidating the concept of the molecule and  Boyle’s law, the  Charles law, the Gay Russia's law, ideal gas equation. Deviation from ideal behavior, liquefaction of gases, critical temperature.

Physics – scope and excitement and nature of the physical laws the Physics, its technology, and society. The Need for measurement: Units of measurement and systems of units the SI units, fundamental and derived units. Length, mass and time measurements; accuracy and precision of measuring instruments; errors in measurement; significant figures. Dimensions of physical quantities, dimensional analysis, and its applications.

Unit II: Kinematics
The frame of reference, Motion in a straight line: Position-time graph, speed, and velocity. Elementary concepts of differentiation and integration for describing motion. Uniform and non-uniform motion, average speed and instantaneous velocity. The Unit vector; the Resolution of a vector in a plane – rectangular components. Scalar and Vector product of vectors. Motion in a plane. Cases of the uniform velocity and uniform acceleration-projectile motion. The uniform of circular motion.

Unit III: Laws of Motion and properties
The Intuitive concept of force. Inertia and Newton’s first law of motion; momentum and Newton’s second law of motion; impulse; Newton’s third law of motion. Law of conservation of linear momentum and its applications. Equilibrium of concurrent forces. Static and its kinetic friction and the laws of friction, rolling friction, lubrication. Dynamics of uniform circular motion and the Centripetal force, examples of circular motion like (vehicle on a level circular road, vehicle on banked road).

Unit IV: The Work, Energy, and Power
Work done by a constant force and a variable force and  kinetic energy, the work-energy theorem, and power. The notion of potential energy, the potential energy of a spring, conservative forces and  conservation of mechanical energy like (kinetic and potential energies); and non-conservative forces: the  motion in a vertical circle; the elastic and inelastic collisions in one and two dimensions .

Unit V: Motion of System of Particles of a Rigid Body
The Centre of the mass of a two-particle system and  momentum conservation and the  center of motion of the mass. The Centre of the mass of a rigid body and the center of mass of a uniform rod. Moment of a force and torque and  angular momentum and the  laws of conservation of angular momentum and its functions and applications. The Equilibrium of rigid bodies and the rotation of rigid bodies  and the equations of rotational motion and that comparison of linear and the  rotational motions. Similarly, the biology and mathematics are exactly same to that of 10+1 and 10+2 class .

Unit I: Applications of Matrices and Determinants
Adjoint, inverse – properties, computation of inverses, the solution of the system of linear equations by matrix inversion method.
Rank of a matrix – elementary transformation on a matrix, consistency of a system of linear equations, Cramer’s rule, non-homogeneous equations, homogeneous linear system and rank method.

Complex number system – conjugate, properties, ordered pair representation.
Modulus – properties, geometrical representation, polar form, principal value, conjugate, sum, difference, product, quotient, vector interpretation, solutions of polynomial equations, De Moivre’s theorem and its applications.
Roots of a complex number – nth roots, cube roots, fourth roots.

Unit III: Analytical Geometry of two dimensions
Definition of a comic – general equation of a conic, classification with respect to the general equation of a conic, classification of conics with respect to eccentricity.
Equations of conic sections (parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola) in standard forms and general forms- Directrix, Focus, and Latus rectum – parametric form of comics and chords. – Tangents and normals – cartesian form and parametric form- the equation of chord of contact of tangents from a point (x1, y1) to all the above said curves.
Asymptotes, Rectangular hyperbola – Standard equation of a rectangular hyperbola.

Unit IV: Vector Algebra
Scalar Product – angle between two vectors, properties of the scalar product, and applications of dot products. Vector product right handed and left handed systems, properties of vector product, and applications of the cross product.
The product of three vectors – Scalar triple product, properties of the scalar triple product, vector triple product, vector product of four vectors, scalar product of four vectors.

Unit V: Analytical Geometry of Three Dimensions
Direction cosines – direction ratios – equation of a straight line passing through a given point and parallel to a given line, passing through two given points, the angle between two lines.
Planes – equation of a plane, passing through a given point and perpendicular to a line, given the distance from the origin and unit normal, passing through a given point and parallel to two given lines, passing through two given points and parallel to a given line, passing through three given non-collinear points, passing through the line of intersection of two given planes, the distance between a point and a plane, the plane which contains two given lines (co-planar lines), angle between a line and a plane.
Skew lines – shortest distance between two lines, condition for two lines to intersect, the point of intersection, collinearity of three points.
Sphere – equation of the sphere whose center and radius are given, the equation of a sphere when the extremities of the diameter are given.

Unit I: Taxonomy
Linnaean system of classification and Binomial nomenclature; history and types of classification; status of bacteria and viruses; classification of angiosperms up to sub-class level (Bentham and Hooker’ systems); salient features of non-chordates up to phylum levels and chordates up to class levels.

Modern concepts of organic evolution, evidence of organic evolution (Fossil records and biochemical evidence). Darwinism and neo – Darwinism, Lamarckism, Neo-Lamarckism, sources of variation, mutation, recombination, genetic drift, migration, natural selection. Origin and concepts of species: speciation and isolation (geographical pre-mating and post-mating or post-zygotic), adaptive radiations.

Unit III: Cell and Molecular Biology
The discovery of the cell, cell as a contained unit, pro, and eukaryotic cells and its ultrastructure. Cell division: mitosis, mitosis, and meiosis. The cell: cell wall, cell membrane and cell organelles (Plastids, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies, ribosome’s, lysosomes, vacuoles, and centrioles) DNA and RNA, DNA as genetic material, RNA as genetic material replication, transcription, genetic code, translation, gene expression and regulation, protein synthesis, DNA repair.

Unit IV: Reproduction and Genetics:
Reproduction in organisms: asexual and sexual reproduction, sexual reproduction in flowering plants, structure of flowers, pollination , fertilization, development of seeds and fruits, apomixes, and polyembryony Human reproduction: reproductive system in male and female, menstrual cycles, production of gametes, fertilization, implantation, embryo development, pregnancy, parturition and lactation. Sex determination in human, XX and XY.
Chromosomes: structure and types, genes and genomes, linkage and crossing over, recombination of chromosomes, mutation, chromosomal aberration, Mendelian inheritance, the chromosomal theory of inheritance, deviation from Mendelian ratio (gene interaction, incomplete dominance, co-dominance, complimentary gene, multiple allelism), chromosomal disorders in humans. Microbiology and Immunology.
Introduction to microbial diversity, history of medical microbiology, the discovery of antibiotics, pasteurization, microscopes. Fungi, bacteria, virus, protozoa, algae – beneficial and harmful. Parasites and pathogens. The structure of microbes and diseases caused by them. Microbes in households, food processing, industrial production of microbial products, Sewage treatment, waste management, and Energy generation. Unit V: Biochemistry:
Structure and function of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins. A disaccharide, starch, glycogen, fats, cholesterol, amino acids, peptides. Primary, Secondary and tertiary structure of proteins. Enzymes, structure, and mechanism of enzyme catalysis, specificity of enzymes, co-factors a co-enzymes.

Physiology: Plant and Human
Plant Physiology: Movement of water, food, nutrients, gases and minerals. Respiration, photosynthesis (light and dark reactions), Factors affecting photosynthesis, electron transport chain (ETC), glycolysis, Kreb’s cycle, pentose phosphate pathway, hormones and growth regulators, Photoperiodism and vernalization.
Human Physiology: Digestion and absorption, breathing and respiration, body fluids and circulation, excretory system, endocrine system, nervous system, skeletal and muscular systems: locomotion, and movement, growth, aging and death. Hormones; types of hormones and its functions.
