SC Scholarship 2023-24
Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment has started a scholarship scheme for Scheduled Caste category students. Students who belong to SC category and living under the poverty line may apply for this studentship. This scholarship scheme is for Pre Matric, Post-Matric, Merit Cum Means students. Candidates who are studying in any of the course that is Undergraduate, and Postgraduate i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com, BBA, BCA, M.A, M.Com, M.Sc., MBA, MCA, Doctorate, Research Fellowship etc. Contestants are advised to apply for the Scheduled Caste Scholarship through the official web portal. There are two types of schemes such as Fellowship & Scholarship. Both are described below.
Features of this SC Scholarship Scheme:
- It supports meritorious SC students who got admission in 213 identified quality educational institutions.
- Scholarship once awarded will continue until completion of the course subject to satisfactory performance.
- The amount of Scholarship covers tuition fees, boarding and lodging expenses, book grant and a one-time grant for the purchase of a Computer along with its accessories.
- 100% funding is provided by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment according to the norms.
- Each identified Institute has been allocated 5 awards, however, it can be increased subject to an overall cap of 625 scholarships per year. The fund is released by the
- Ministry of Tribal Affairs to the concerned Institution directly.
- The full amount of tuition fee and other non-refundable dues in respect of Government/Government-funded institutions are paid.
- In the case of students studying in private sector institutions a ceiling of Rs. 2.00 lakh per annum per student will apply normally.
- In the case of students in private sector flying clubs for Commercial Pilot Training, the ceiling is Rs. 3.72 lakh per annum per student.
- Living expenses are paid as per actual, subject to the maximum ceiling of Rs. 2200/- per month per student.
- Expenditure on Books and stationery is paid @ Rs. 3000/- per annum per student. The cost of the latest computer along with accessories limited to Rs. 45,000/- as one-time assistance during the entire course is paid to the student.
Eligibility Criteria for SC Scholarship 2023-24
The Fellowship/ Scholarship will be available only to the SC candidates who fulfill the following conditions for the award.
Fellowship:
- The candidate belonging to SC should have passed the Post-Graduation examination for being eligible for the Fellowship.
- The candidate should get admission and registration for regular M.Phil/ Ph.D. Courses in University / Academic Institutions recognized by UGC under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act / ICAR by fulfilling conditions of admission of that University/Institution.
- The list of University/Academic Institution as referred to in sub-para (i) above shall be identified by the ministry.
- The SC students once considered eligible for the Fellowship shall not be entitled to any other scholarship of the Centre or State Government the same study.
- The fellowship shall be payable once the student has secured admission and started the research work.
- In order to qualify for Senior Research Fellowship, a candidate will have to fulfill the UGC/ICAR norms prescribed in this regard.
Scholarship:
- ST students who have secured admission in the notified Institutions according to the norms prescribed by the respective Institutions will be eligible for the scholarship under the scheme.
- The student will be eligible to join only the list of Institution identified by Ministry.
- The total family income of the candidate to be eligible for this scholarship from all sources should not exceed Rs.6.0 lakh per annum.
- The scholarship shall be payable once the student has secured admission and started attending the classes.
- The scholarship awarded, will continue till the completion of the course, subject to satisfactory performance of the student.
