ST Scholarship 2023-24


Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India is ready to start online registration for ST Scholarship 2023-24. The candidates who belongs to the Scheduled Tribe community  can apply online for this scheme before the last date. According to the latest news, the online registration will commence through its official site.

The Central Sector Scholarship Scheme is available for Pre-Matric, Post-Matric and Merit Cum Means. All SC candidates who wish to continue their education but not have any opportunity can submit their online application form before the last date. All Undergraduate, & Postgraduate i.e. B.A, B.Sc., B.Com, BBA, BCA, M.A, M.Com, M.Sc., MBA, MCA, Doctorate, learning candidates are eligible to grab this opportunity.


There are two types of schemes such as Fellowship & Scholarship. Both are described below.


Fellowship: The Fellowship scheme covers all Universities /Institutions recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act. The Fellowship will be on the pattern of UGC/ICAR. Fellowships awarded to research students and it will cater to the requirements of the Scheduled Tribe students pursuing research studies leading to regular and full-time M.Phil, the Ph.D. course only and an equivalent research degree in Universities, Research Institutions, and Scientific Institutions. 

Scholarship: The Scholarship covers courses and Institutions notified by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs. ST students who secure admission in these Institutes are awarded scholarships. The scholarship, once awarded, will continue till the completion of the course tenure, subject to satisfactory performance.

Features of this ST Scholarship Scheme:

  • It supports meritorious ST students who got admission in 213 identified quality educational institutions. 
  • Scholarship once awarded will continue until completion of the course subject to satisfactory performance. 
  • The amount of Scholarship covers tuition fees, boarding and lodging expenses, book grant and a one-time grant for the purchase of a Computer along with its accessories. 
  • 100% funding is provided by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs according to the norms. 
  • Each identified Institute has been allocated 5 awards, however, it can be increased subject to an overall cap of 625 scholarships per year. The fund is released by the 
  • Ministry of Tribal Affairs to the concerned Institution directly.

Benefits of ST Scholarship 2023-24
  • The full amount of tuition fee and other non-refundable dues in respect of Government/Government-funded institutions are paid. 
  • In the case of students studying in private sector institutions a ceiling of Rs. 2.00 lakh per annum per student will apply normally. 
  • In the case of students in private sector flying clubs for Commercial Pilot Training, the ceiling is Rs. 3.72 lakh per annum per student. 
  • Living expenses are paid as per actual, subject to the maximum ceiling of Rs. 2200/- per month per student. 
  • Expenditure on Books and stationery is paid @ Rs. 3000/- per annum per student. The cost of the latest computer along with accessories limited to Rs. 45,000/- as one-time assistance during the entire course is paid to the student. 

Eligibility Criteria for ST Scholarship 2023-24

The Fellowship/ Scholarship will be available only to the ST candidates who fulfill the following conditions for the award.

Fellowship: 
  • The candidate belonging to ST should have passed the Post-Graduation examination for being eligible for the Fellowship. 
  • The candidate should get admission and registration for regular and full-time M.Phil/ Ph.D. Courses in University / Academic Institutions recognized by UGC under Section 2 (f) of the UGC Act / ICAR by fulfilling conditions of admission of that University/Institution.
  • The list of University/Academic Institution as referred to in sub-para (i) above shall be identified by the ministry. 
  • The ST students once considered eligible for the Fellowship shall not be entitled for any other scholarship of the Centre or State Government the same study.
  • The fellowship shall be payable once the student has secured admission and started the research work.
  • In order to qualify for Senior Research Fellowship, a candidate will have to fulfill the UGC/ICAR norms prescribed in this regard.

Scholarship: 
  • ST students who have secured admission in the notified Institutions according to the norms prescribed by the respective Institutions will be eligible for the scholarship under the scheme.
  • The student will be eligible to join only the list of Institution identified by Ministry.
  • The total family income of the candidate to be eligible for this scholarship from all sources should not exceed Rs.6.0 lakh per annum.
  • The scholarship shall be payable once the student has secured admission and started attending the classes.
  • The scholarship awarded, will continue till the completion of the course, subject to satisfactory performance of the student.

How to apply online for ST Scholarship 2023-24

  • Go to the official site and open the scholarship link. 
  • Then choose the scholarship section and read the rules and regulations carefully. 
  • Just fill the application form with all necessary information. 
  • Just uploaded all scanned documents with photograph and signature. 
  • Proceed the data for the further process. 
  • At last, take print out of it and keep it safe for upcoming use.

  3. Dear Concern, I have receive a message from VM-NICSMS stating that my name given in the application form and my name in aadhar card is not matching. They recommet me to login through a scholarship portal namely scholarships.gov.in and yes i know that my aadhar name and the name i enclosed to my documents is compleyely same. Can you please help me?
